Dieting for Success
Dieting is hard enough without having to juggle all the
different aspects of a successful life around a specific meal
plan. However, if you find it seems to get more and more difficult to stick to a diet,
here are some tips to help you succeed in this area of
your life as well:
1. Don’t expect results
overnight. Even if you can hammer out a
difficult business deal in hours, you can’t expect the same
results with your Diäten. You must accept
that the weight didn’t appear overnight and it will not go away
that quickly either. Stick to a plan to lose two to four
pounds a week. Not only is this healthier than most fad
or crash diets, you are more likely to keep the weight off.
2. Allow for mistakes. This is
often one of the hardest things for people to deal with.
If you have an order of fries, realize it is not the end of the
world. It’s definitely not the time to say, “I give
up.” You don’t even have to feel guilty about the
fries. Think of a way to add a few moments more of
exercise into your day if you just can’t take the thought
of cheating on your diet. Realizing that everyone
has weaknesses has probably helped you a time or two
in your career. Realizing that you have weaknesses
as well, can be rather eye-opening.
3. To avoid some of the temptations with
cheating, don’t buy the treats. While it
may sound far too simple, if it’s not in your cupboard or
fridge, you’re probably not going to eat it. If you have
kids, be sure to explain to them why the chocolate is no longer
in the house. However, they are free to buy it themselves
and eat it somewhere else.
4. You know rewards are the goal for any type of
plan. When you reach one of your weight loss goals,
reward yourself with a new blouse, a massage, or a
manicure. Maybe even a small order of fries can make the
goal worthwhile.
5. Stick to a meal plan. Plan your menu for the
week and shop for only the items you need. Once again,
your family may not be too happy at first, but you are also
helping them eat healthier too.
6. Involve a friend or family member. This is one
of the best ways to stick with a diet plan and succeed.
It’s much easier when you have someone going through the same
thing as you. If you are considering eating the entire
quart of ice cream, call them up. You’ll get the support
you need to be successful, and so will your friends.
7. Finally, don’t be so hard on yourself. Many
people set horribly unrealistic goals and then just cannot
believe they are unable to reach them. They end up
feeling as though they failed and are hopeless to try
again. Set your baby steps. It will make you feel
as though you are accomplishing something.
